Steam days
Steam operation is planned on the following days in 2024 if the forest fire level is low enough. On all other days, we will only run our diesel trains.

From forest fire level 4, there will be NO steam locomotive operation. Changes may therefore be made at short notice. A 2-train operation with our diesel locomotives will then take place instead.
The current forest fire level according to DWD for Rhineland-Palatinate: DWD forest fire danger index. We are guided by the values of the Ruppertsecken, Bad Dürkheim and Kaiserslautern measuring stations. If even one measuring point reaches level 4 of the index, the danger is too high.

Please note that we do not accept any liability for dirt or damage to your clothing and equipment, especially when operating our steam locomotive.

Due to damage to our steam locomotive, we are unfortunately forced to cancel a few steam train days. We are working diligently on the repairs.
We will receive a small steam locomotive as a replacement for Pentecost! Our scheduled train days will be replaced with diesel trains.
Depending on the progress of the repairs and the weather, steam train excursions may resume as early as July and August. Please check back here regularly.

Prices

Adult (14+): 5,00€
Child (3-13) : 3,50€

Family ticket (2 adults and children): 13,00€
"Single with child" ticket (1 adult and children): 7,00€

Children under 3 years and dogs are free.

Due to the high operating costs of a steam locomotive, we charge a steam surcharge of €2.50 for adults. For family ticket & "single with child" ticket, this surcharge is only charged once:

Adult with steam surcharge: 7,50€
Family ticket with steam surcharge mit Dampfzuschlag (2 adults and children): 15,50€
"single with child" ticket with steam surcharge (1 adult and children): 9,50€

The fares quoted are for a complete "round trip" Eiswoog - Ramsen - Eiswoog.
Information an the travel days

The 2024 service will run on Easter Sunday, Easter Monday and every Sunday and public holiday from May 1 to October 3, except Ascension Day (Father's Day).

Tickets & reservations:
You do not need to book in advance or make a reservation. Tickets are either purchased directly on the train or (usually on steam days) we open a ticket counter at the station itself.

Journey duration:
Round trip: about 45 minutes
one-way trip: about 20 minutes
Track length (one-way): 3 km ~ 1.86 miles

Carriage of dogs:
Dogs can be taken along free of charge. Just make sure that the dogs do not escape from the carriage. If your dog does not like it, please contact our train staff so that the train can be stopped if necessary to avoid worse.

Arrival:
Our parking spaces are limited. We recommend traveling by train (DB). Trains run hourly from Frankenthal via Freinsheim, Grünstadt, and Eisenberg to Ramsen. Please check the DB website for exact departure times. Departure and arrival times for the Ramsen stop are listed there.

The Eiswoog stop is currently closed due to bridge repairs over the Bockbach valley. The only public transport option to reach Eiswoog at this time is by bus.
Special trips for your personal event

You can also book the Stumpfwaldbahn outside our regular travel times. These trips are carried out individually for you with the diesel train!
Departure is from Eiswoog station. Other starting points are possible for an extra charge. Journey time for outward and return journey approx. 45 minutes in total.

A special trip is the perfect occasion for weddings, birthdays, company outings, hiking groups and many more. Take the opportunity to create an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
We can transport groups of up to 75 people per train, larger groups are transported in two seperate trains.

Our prices for special trips are flat rates:

- up to 25 people: 250€
- 26 to 50 people: 350€
- 51 to 75 people: 450€
